Temperatures are starting to drop and it's time to start thinking about getting a new winter coat for the coming winter season. While there are many cute and stylish winter coats on the markets not all of them look great on every body type. By choosing a coat that works with your shape you can accentuate your positives, minimize your negatives and look hot even when the temperatures are cold.
Pear shaped bodies are one of the most common body types for women. If you have a pear shaped body your bottom half is heavier than your upper half and you may tend to carry your weight your hips or thighs rather than in your belly or upper half.
If you have a pear shaped body consider choosing a winter coat with details at the top in the shoulder area that make it look wider such as a fur collar. A coat that is wider at the shoulders will help to balance out your hips and make your body look more balanced. Double breasted coats that are fitted at the waist also work very well for pear shaped bodies since they add a little bit of volume to the top and accentuate your narrowest point, which is at your waist.
If you have a rectangular body or a "boy" body, you will want to look for a coat that implies that you have curves even if you don't. Try getting a double breasted coat which will help to add volume to the upper half of your body. Also look for coats with pocket flaps on the bottom which can help to emphasize your hips and make them look curvier. A double breasted princess coat is also a great option for you since it is fitted through the waist and then flares out over the hips to help make you look curvier.
If you are petite avoid buying a long or bulky winter coat since it can easily overwhelm your body. Instead, look for a coat that is at most 3/4 length and that fits your very well through so you aren't swimming in it. Keep in mind that you can get coats altered for a reasonable amount so that they actually fit your body if you can't find anything that sits quite right on your smaller frame.
